Zoe Saldana (born June 19 1978) was the daughter of Asalia Saldana and Aridio Saldana in Passaic New Jersey. Her mother and father have both been Puerto Ricans. Her mother is Puerto Rican as is her father, Dominican. Her family relocated from Queens in New York in the Dominican Republic when she was 10, and lived there for seven years. Zoe's interest in dance was ignited when they were living in the Dominican Republic. Zoe started her dance education at ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy. The instruction she received was not just a wonderful way to exercise an enthusiastic child but it was also a best preparation for her eventual career as a professional actor. Zoe's parents relocated to United States when Zoe was seventeen years old. The passion for dance and her desire to perform on stage grew.
