Harry Edward Styles (also known as Harry Styles in the music world) is an British composer and musician and. Harry Styles was one of the founding members of One Direction. The child of Des Styles (father) and Anne Cox, Harry Styles was born on February 1, 1994, in Holmes Chapel. Harry Styles studied at the Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School, in which he started his own group of musicians with 3 schoolmates, which was dubbed the White Eskimo. They participated in the Battle of Bands where thanks to their outstanding performances, they took home the trophy. Even though he had always expressed an interest in music however, despite his love in it, he also wanted to pursue a career as a lawyer and physical therapist. He worked in a local bakery part-time to support his family financially. Harry Styles was selected for The X Factor 2010 audition in which he performed Stevie Wonder's track Is not She Lovely. This meant that the group he was in had to be split. Nicole Scherzinger proposed to Harry Styles that he be part of a brand new group, One Direction. The other members were Liam Payne Zayn Mallik Niall Horan Louis Tomlinson. Simon Cowell sponsored this five-person group. They were first created in the year 2010. The group performed hits like My Life Would Suffer Without You from Kelly Clarkson, and Total Eclipse of the Heart, by Bonnie Tyler during the competition. The group was one of the contenders to win the award. They were however in third place behind Rebecca Ferguson, and the winner Matt Cardle. Harry Styles, his group as well as Cowell did not win the competition. However Cowell provided Harry Styles a 2 million pounds contract with Syco.
