Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's existence is one of football scholarships, family involvement and involvement in the community. First family he is the youngest of the nine children of Lucious the Jessie and Lucious Selmon raised on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. He played second in football and was one of three brothers who were players for Oklahoma. All three brothers were All-Americans. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the first-teamers for the entire year. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's top lineman. In his three years as a starter Oklahoma went 32- 1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. Selmon was honored when the National Football Foundation named him an Scholar-Athlete for the 3rd time in the year 1975. Selmon is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in educational studies. Lee Roy spent ten hours per week volunteering throughout his time at college. After graduation, Lee Roy settled in Tampa where he spent nine years playing with the Buccaneers. Three times, he was selected All-Pro. Then he began his business career. In 1988, as an account relations officer at First Florida Bank of Tampa and worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder that The Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as one of the most prominent young men across the nation. As a student, Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs a little over 256 lbs. He coached his university team in the year 1975. In 1993 he was appointed associate director of the University of South Florida. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. He was also named to the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 awarded the Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
